Embroidery digitizing cost calculator

Free calculator: enter how many logos you digitize a month, what you pay a digitizing service per logo and how long you wait, and compare it with digitizing yourself per design or on a monthly plan.

How to use it: enter your own numbers and the results update as you type. The calculator runs entirely in your browser: the numbers you type are never sent anywhere or stored. (Like the rest of this site, the page itself loads the visitor statistics and ad pixels described in the privacy policy.)

How the numbers are worked out

  • Digitizing service per month = logos per month × what you pay per logo.
  • EasyDigitizer per design = logos per month × $16.99. Each paid design can be exported in every format and re-exported for 30 days.
  • EasyDigitizer monthly plan = $49 a month for unlimited designs, whatever the volume. The first 7 days are free, which the calculator ignores.
  • EasyDigitizer yearly plan = $384 a year, shown as $32 a month.
  • Break-even compares the per-design price with the monthly plan: from 3 designs a month, $49 is less than paying $16.99 three times ($50.97).
  • Waiting time = logos per month × the turnaround you entered. That's time you're not waiting on someone else's file. It isn't time saved at your desk: you still spend your own time auto-digitizing, checking and sewing a test, so count that honestly.

What the calculator doesn't include

  • Your time. Auto-digitizing a clean logo is quick, but complicated artwork, tiny lettering or a demanding customer can take longer. Budget for the edits and the test sew-out.
  • Edit fees. Many services charge extra for changes or rush jobs. If yours does, add it to the per-logo price.
  • Quality differences. A skilled human digitizer may beat any software on a complex design. EasyDigitizer's hand-digitizing tools are there for when the auto result needs work.
  • Taxes and card fees.

When outsourcing still makes sense

If you only need a couple of logos a year, or the artwork is a detailed illustration that needs hours of hand work, a good digitizing service is worth its fee. The calculator is most useful for shops with steady, repeat volume: team logos, business shirts, caps and the same customers coming back with variations.

Trying EasyDigitizer

EasyDigitizer runs in the browser on Windows, Mac, iPad, Android, Chromebook and Linux. It auto-digitizes artwork with garment and cap presets, has hand tools for satin columns, fills, underlay and pull and push compensation, and exports DST, TAP, PES, EXP, JEF and VP3. Designing and previewing are free, so you can run a real job through it and compare the stitch-out with the file you'd normally buy.

Frequently asked questions

How much does embroidery digitizing usually cost?

It varies widely by service, stitch count and turnaround, which is why the calculator asks for your own price. Use the figure on your last few invoices.

Is the monthly plan cheaper than paying per design?

From three exported designs a month, yes: $49 against $50.97 for three designs at $16.99. The yearly plan works out at $32 a month.

Does the calculator save or send my numbers?

No. The calculation runs in your browser only, and the numbers you enter are never sent to a server or stored.
